France to send trade delegation to Iran

France’s main lobby group Medef is to take representatives from companies including Airbus and Total to Tehran to explore opportunities, though it stresses that no deals will be signed during the trip except in areas not affected by EU and US sanctions such as agriculture and livestock.

France was one of the countries that took a tough line towards Iran, particularly during the nuclear deal which some analysts suggest may hinder french opportunities in Iran and leave them behind their European and US competitiors. French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius stated that he did not believe this to be the case following his visit to Tehran..

European and US companies have been conducting extensive research into the Iranian market as they anticipate the lifting of economic sanctions following the Iran Deal.
